2024 was a year of growth, experimentation, and a few surprises (some more welcome than others!). While not everything went according to plan, we made significant strides in quality, celebrated work-life balance, and tackled exciting projects that shaped our agency's identity. Here's a look back at our wild ride through the year.
A Wild First Quarter
The year kicked off with our very first Framer website for Van Dijken Glas. It was a thrilling milestone we couldn’t wait to show off at our Agency at Night event, where we invited Framer’s VP of Growth, Oskar Carlsson, for a talk. The event’s theme, "Embrace the Wild," set the tone perfectly, pairing insightful sessions (including our Brand Maturity Scan workshop) with Peroni beers and delicious pizza. Conversations flowed, connections were made, and we can’t wait to do it all again in May 2025!
Behind the scenes, we also revamped our processes. Our Brand Building Process now delivers new brands in just six weeks, and we upped the ante with quality standards for our digital experience designs. Meanwhile, on the marketing front, we embraced Demand Generation with fresh video content featuring William, our creative director, and Alisa, our strategist, sharing insights on strategy and creativity. Next to that, we launched our bi-monthly newsletter.
Busy, Busy, Busy in Q2
The second quarter was packed with projects for Tsjechoreizen, Flow Lab, and Nutrinova. Amid the hustle, we also celebrated the arrival of William’s baby girl, Abby! While William adjusted to fatherhood, the team pushed boundaries with Flow Lab, our second Framer website of the year, proving just how much the platform can do.
In June, we made it official with Pionect, our long-time project partner. Their software expertise and our focus on strategy, branding & design are a perfect match. Together, we’re shaping the future of creative and functional digital solutions.
Adventures and Mishaps of Q3
Summer brought well-earned vacations: Sara explored Vietnam, Alisa ventured to Mexico, Amrish enjoyed Madeira, Nick relaxed in France, and Oskar trekked through Switzerland. Refreshed and recharged, we returned for a memorable team day in Amsterdam featuring an art workshop, a decadent Basque lunch, and a canal ride with music, drinks, and snacks.
But not everything went smoothly. Our ambitious plan to paint a whiteboard wall in the Jungle Room was an epic fail. What started as a "Happy Birthday" surprise for William turned into a semi-permanent art piece—marker ink refused to budge! Multiple paint cans later, we admitted defeat and opted for a plain, reliable wall. Lesson learned.
Fall & Winter Highlights
September saw Alisa host our first webinar and present a Small Talk about brand maturity at HIG, our creative hub. We also attended DMexco in Cologne, where AI, e-commerce, and digital advertising dominated the agenda. A staggering $200 billion is projected to be invested in AI by 2025, making it a critical skill for marketers. Fun fact: 79% of employees are secretly using AI at work. (We see you!)
The year sped to a close with another team day, visiting the Kikk Design Festival in Belgium. It culminated in a fantastic talk by Stefan Sagmeister on how things are better now than ever.
A lot of X-mas planning and activities kept us busy- decorating the office, a workshop to make clay decorations (so much fun!), a hot chocolate stand, designing our annual X-mas card and a Secret Santa ‘Ugly X-mas T-Shirt contest’ were the main highlights.
Projects That Defined 2024
This year, we focused on fewer but larger projects that covered strategy, branding, and design. Here are some of our proudest achievements:
Van Dijken Glas: A new brand and website that blend legacy with innovation, showcasing craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.
Flow Lab: Our second Framer masterpiece for a Scandinavian design store, complete with interactive product labels and Studio services.
Nutrinova: A bold rebranding for a joint venture in food innovation, supported by a photoshoot, website, and brand assets.
Winthera: A duality-inspired visual identity for a startup offering ice baths and saunas. Next up: a stunning website!
Tournify: A platform redesign for global sports tournament organizer, reflecting a fresh visual brand identity and better user experience.
Looking Ahead
We’re already gearing up for 2025, continuing the rollout of our new brand and yet another website update, again built in Framer! Expect to hear more from us about brand building and brand maturity in the months ahead.
But first, it’s time to unplug and enjoy the holidays. We’ll see you back on January 6th, recharged and ready for another incredible year.
From all of us at the agency, Alisa, William, Nick, Amrish, Sara, Oskar and Sil, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous New Year!
